Alain joined the board of Helping Hands in 2017. Helping Hands sought his advice two years prior on how Helping Hands could better serve its clients with home financing needs. Alain is the president and founder of Direct Finance Corp., a New England based mortgage company, that has helped over 5,000 homeowners and arranged over a billion dollars in financing. Instead of trying to profit for his company, Alain suggested and volunteered to obtain the required licensing for both Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Helping Hands is now able to, when appropriate, arrange home financing thereby bypassing the banks. The goal is to deliver better education, service, and loan programs. Alain graduated summa cum laude from the University of Massachusetts, obtained an MBA from The Wharton School, and a Master in Real Estate from M.I.T. He was the first person in New England to earn the Certified Reverse Mortgage Professional (CRMP) designation as well as the Certified Senior Advisor (CSA) certification.

Bill says: "Being in the mortgage business for over 30 years I have learned a lot of lessons. The one that affected me the most was a few years ago. Retired family members were having a hard time making ends meet and I was asked if I could help. I researched everything that might enable them to stay in the house that they have lived in for over 50 years. When I learned about reverse mortgages, my eyes were opened. Now my goal is to educate as many people as I can about the program. There is a quote that sums up how Reverse mortgages are viewed. 'Beware of false knowledge; it is more dangerous than ignorance.' - George Bernard Shaw.
"Education is the focus at Helping Hands Community Partners and why I sought them out. We are here to educate people and when appropriate help arrange financing. The givers mindset really is at the core of what we do."

Pearl began her mortgage career 16 years ago when Alain, owner and President of Direct Finance Corp, asked her to step in to the back office as the accountant. Alain and Pearl have been friends for several years and he thought her skill set would be a good fit to take over that aspect of Direct Finance.
Pearl is a retired CPA, has a degree in Business Management from UMass Boston, and holds a Master of Science in Taxation from Bentley College. Her experience as an accountant and CPA uniquely qualifies her for the highly anticipated transition to a nonprofit platform. The aspects of a non profit platform will open up opportunities to help people in the community which is highly important to her. Always wanting to help, but not having the additional time to dedicate to a non profit on a volunteer basis, this opportunity opens up that goal for her.
She is a member of the Helping Hands Community Partners Board of Directors.
Pearl resides in Hull, Massachusetts and shares her home with her large breed dog.
